Monty, No!
[This entry is a submission to Technosailor’s Group Writing Project (Peeing Dog). Since it’s for fun, I might as well join in.]
It didn’t matter how long Joe had been training with Monty. He loved to mark his territory wherever he went. Joe had tried to make him pee only in certain spots but Monty refused to listen and often sprinted towards a tree, lamp post or whatever object caught his nose. He was too caught up with ensuring that his territory was well documented in the neighbourhood.
There was once when Joe was talking to charming lady who was out with her labrador. He was about to ask her out for dinner when she shrieked. Monty had decided to mark her. Joe felt his dating chances slipping away fast. “MONTY! NO!” Monty looked at him and wagged his tail hard. The lady was never seen in the park again.
“Joe, why don’t you just send the mongrel away?” Jean, his sister, asked him after he had told her of his encounter. She had been the target of Monty’s marking a few times and hated it. Whenever he tried to get near to her, she would bark a sharp “NO!” and Monty would scurry away. Although she tried to get Joe to her place instead, there were times, he would be unable to make it. Today was one of those days. He was too upset about the lost of a possible date.
